Product Information
Will the colours look like they do on screen?
The colours in your print might appear slightly different to what you see on your screen (and your screen may look different to other peoples’ screens). This is because computer monitors (and other digital devices) use Red, Green and Blue (RGB colour model) light to display colour, whereas commercial printing presses print with Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key/blacK (CMYK) ink.
Since my artwork is digital, I need to convert it from RGB to CMYK at the end of the process to ensure it looks as expected when sent to the printers. I quality check every print before sending it so what you receive is how the print is intended to look.
What options are available when purchasing a print?
The prints are available in standard A sizes (these will appear in a dropdown on the product page when in stock – feel free to email me if you can’t see the size you’d like). Some prints have a large panoramic version available too.
- A4 (297×210 mm)
- A3 (420×29.7 mm)
- A2 (594×420 mm)
- A1 (841×594 mm)
- A0 (1189×841 mm)
- Panorama (30×10 inches)
A4 and A3 prints will be printed on 350gsm (grams per square metre) silk card, which is similar to that used for postcards. Larger prints are printed on 250gsm silk paper.
Every print includes a signature in the bottom right corner of the off-white border.
Why don’t you offer other options when purchasing a print?
The short answer is: I’d love to but only have limited space to hold stock, plus it complicates delivery.
If you’re interested in another size/paper, or perhaps a print without the text across the bottom or with a customisation of your own, please let me know and I should be able to arrange that with the printers for an extra fee and a longer waiting time.
If you’d prefer a higher quality (and therefore more expensive) giclée print, that can also be arranged.
I’ve not yet looked at printing on other products (e.g. tea towels, placemats, calendars) but I hope to in future. I’ve looked at integrating with an on-demand provider like Zazzle but didn’t like having less control (e.g. I can’t sign prints), plus they take a large chunk of the profit. 😉
Ordering
How do I place an order?
Find a product you like on this site, select the option(s) and add it to the basket.
From there you’ll need to proceed through the checkout (completing delivery details, select a payment method etc).
Can you deliver outside the UK?
Yes, although the default delivery options assume you’re in the UK. If you live outside the UK, please email me and let me know what item(s) you’re interested in and what country you need delivery to. I can then check the latest Royal Mail prices for ‘International Tracked & Signed’ and quote for you.
For example, an A4 print (large letter) would cost £9.50, or an A3 print (small parcel) would cost £15.80, to send to the US.
What does ‘available on back-order’ mean?
Prints that say ‘available on back-order’ mean I don’t have that size in stock so will need to order from the printers, which will add up to five business days to the turnaround time.
How will my order be packaged and delivered?

Can I buy a print in person?
Yes! If you’re in North Berwick, this web site has a ‘FREE Collection from North Berwick’ delivery option (collection is from my home address in central North Berwick) – or drop me an email. Failing that, my prints are available in Rock & Bird on North Berwick High Street.
Local prints are packaged in an acid-free card mount inside a transparent cellophane bag.
Mounting & Framing
Do you offer mounting or framing?
I’d rather leave this to the professionals but I usually have a very limited number of frames available if you really don’t want to sort this out yourself. The only catch is you have to be able to collect from North Berwick!
Since panoramic frames can be especially tricky, and if you can’t collect, I’m happy to recommend an online custom-frame supplier.
What size mount/frame do I need?
There are lots of options out there, but in a nutshell you need a mount (made from acid-free card) with an aperture that matches the size of your print (the apertures always allow a few millimetres of overlap)… and a frame to match whatever size mount that is.
For example, if you purchase an A4 print, one standard picture mount size is 16×12 inches (usually called something like ’16×12 to fit A4′).
